ABOUT ABOUT

Workshop 5:

This workshop will break down the section of postures Bujapidasna through Baddha Konasana. This is part of the most challenging and demanding section of the Primary Series. This workshop is for ashtanga students who have already learned these postures and been practicing them for some time.

This is a 6 part study and practice series covering the primary series. The workshops will happen over the next 6 months- once per month. The combination of postures and transitions in the first series is meant to create a balance between strength and flexibility. We will look at how to take advantage of this, and how the practice works on the mind. In addition to working through the postures and transitions in the first series, we will also cover aspects of the following topics.

-Action & Counteraction
-Stages of postures & transitions + options
-Movement Quality, Cadence and Strength
-Hip, knee & ankle functions and  forward folding
-Yoga Tradition and what that means for practice today
-Diaphragmatic Breathing
-Vinyasa count significance
-Concentration
-Stretching physiology
